Fix a Toxic Workplace

Is Your Workplace Toxic?

Take the quiz below to find out!

See how many of the work situations you can relate to…

1 – If you bring up a workplace concern to management, ask why things are done a certain way, or ask for more hours, a raise, or a certain reasonable workplace accommodation, are you blown off, told they’ll get back to you but never do, given excuses that don’t make sense, or seen as “wrong” or the problem for making the request or comment in the first place?

2 – Are you expected to always be available? Are you frequently contacted outside of work hours?

3 – Is your schedule, role, responsibilities, and/or company procedures constantly changing? Does work feel chaotic?

4 – Are you constantly asked to or expected to do more and more? Do your responsibilities keep increasing while your pay has stayed the same? Or you’re expected to get a million things done in a small allotment of time? Do you not feel appreciated for your contribution at work? Do you frequently feel you’re being taken advantage of?

5 – Is there a general fear in the workplace that you could lose your job at any moment?

6 – Is your manager a poor communicator? Immature or unstable? Are expectations unclear? Are disappointments not communicated, yet you can feel that your manager is unhappy with something you’ve done?

7 – When things go wrong or deadlines aren’t hit, does management look for someone to blame, rather than to seek solutions?

8 – Are raises and/or promotions given based on favoritism and not actual ability to do a good job?

9 – Are you micromanaged? Constantly watched, feel that you’re not trusted, and that your boss is suspicious of you?

10 – Is your workplace filled with gossip and drama? Do you feel you have to participate in these behaviors in order to belong? Do managers frequently bad-mouth employees?

10 – Do you dread going to work? Feel anxious or stressed before work, during work, or find yourself mulling over or being mad about things that happened at work during off hours?

11 – Are managers harsh in how they communicate? Are they not warm, friendly, or welcoming? Do they seem to not care about your/employees’ feelings or well being? Do you feel you’re looked at as just a number?

So, how’d your company do? Is your workplace toxic?

If you’re the owner of your company or part of senior management where you have the authority to bring in a consultant to help you fix your toxic workplace, reach out.

Unless your company offers associates as well as management frequent and ongoing soft skills trainings (so everyone gets educated), as well as coaching (for practical application of new skills learned, as well as increased self awareness), your workplace will always have a level of toxicity.

What Happens During Your Session:

An initial session consists of 3 key elements:

1. Assessment: I assess what's currently happening within your organization. We'll go over your needs, what issues you're running into, and your company's goals.

2. Consulting: You'll get consulting about your workplace "people" problems. This will give you a higher perspective as to the root cause of what's going on within your company, and how to fix and upgrade your workforce and workplace issues.

3. Top-Down Leadership Coaching: I coach you and your leadership team first, and usually, before I do any coaching or trainings for your employees. This is key part in transforming and upgrading your culture. If you want your company to be better, you must learn how to be better first. This personal transformation will positively impact every area of your business, life, and relationships.

Bring a notepad and pen and be ready to take copious notes that you can review again later for further insight and integration. I will ask you a lot of questions about what's going on within your organization. This will enable me to start building a customized training, coaching and/or consulting program for your company to fix things, while also giving you a new way of looking and doing things within your business.

Why top-down leadership coaching works:

If your business is struggling with workplace "people" problems, such as frontline employee performance issues, retention issues, or poor service quality, focusing exclusively on the lower tier of your organizational chart is an expensive, time- and money-wasting mistake.

Here's why...

Reason #1 - The Real Problem is Rarely What You Think It Is

What many CEOs, C-suite executives, and HR professionals think is the problem within their organization is not actually the problem - it's just a symptom of a broken system. I help you get to the root cause of your "people" problems, so you're able to get the results you want, rather than throwing thousands of dollars at fixes that won't make a difference (or much of a difference).

Reason #2 - Great Companies Have a Great Foundation - That Starts with You!

Most workplace "people" problems exist because the business owner, C-suite executives, and/or managers need coaching to improve their leadership and communication skills first. Frontline employees mirror the communication, boundaries, and leadership skills of their managers. This is why we start with you and your leadership team. Throwing training programs at frontline employees while ignoring the foundation of your organization (which is you and your leadership team) is a total waste of time, energy, and money.

Reason #3 - Lasting Transformation Requires You To Be Involved

The best and most sustained results happen when I create solutions with you, not just for you. Your active involvement guarantees that the transformation within your company and the operational upgrades stick long after the consulting engagement has ended.

* Session Details & Policies:

Cancellation Policy:
All sessions are non-refundable and must take place within 14 calendar days of your purchase date (including weekends). For example, a session purchased on June 1 must be completed by June 14, unless my schedule cannot accommodate you within that window. Failure to book within this timeframe results in forfeiture of the session without a refund.

Rescheduling:
You are allowed one reschedule. Additional rescheduling requests or missed appointments will result in the session being forfeited without a refund.

Once You Sign Up:
You will receive an email containing a Strategic Intake Form. This is where you can share some details related to the leadership challenges, organizational issues, as well as goals you want to address. Sharing this information with me in advance ensures we maximize our time together during the session. Once your completed form is received, we will finalize your session time.

Tardiness:
A 15-minute courtesy window is provided. Arriving within this window means your session will still end at the originally scheduled time. Arriving more than 15 minutes late will result in a cancelled session with no refund.

For In Person Sessions:
Please do not wear any perfume, cologne, scented moisturizers, body washes, or heavily fragranced hair products to in-person sessions. I'm highly sensitive and a fragrance-free environment is required for me to conduct our work together effectively.

Preparing For Your Session:

To get the most out of your investment:

  • Spend time in quiet reflection prior to our call.
  • Spend some time outside, step away from work, your phone, and other distractions.
  • Settle your energy and clear your mind.
  • Come to the session open, calm and receptive—rather than with scattered or rushed energy—allows you to be receptive to deeper insights and breakthroughs.

Bring To Your Session:

  • A notepad and a pen to take copious notes.
  • No video or audio recordings of the sessions are permitted.
  • Because we go deep in these sessions and they open you to new ideas and concepts, while also clearing old programming, negative thoughts, and mental and emotional blocks, make sure you drink a lot of water during the session as well as afterwards.

After Your Session - Integrating What You Learned:

During your session, you'll experience breakthroughs and significant internal shifts. In order to help yourself integrate the changes, after your session:

  • Prioritize rest and drink a lot of water, as it will help process the information shared.
  • Stay away from loud music, socializing, and high-stress environments for the rest of the day.
  • Spend time in quiet reflection, get out into nature, and prioritize an early bedtime.
  • After 24 to 48 hours have passed, review your session notes and begin taking action on the exercises suggested.

Moving Forward
Sustained personal and organizational growth requires ongoing teachings, guidance, coaching, and support. A single deep-dive session is great, as it gets things started, but producing lasting personal and corporate transformation requires consistency. One session builds on the next and in order to prevent you from falling back into old ways of thinking and being, it's highly suggested that you enroll in a coaching program within one week of your initial session while the breakthroughs and guidance are fresh in your mind. This way we'll pick up where your session left off and keep building, together.

About The Love Guru Blaire:

Corporate Consultant, Leadership Coach & Trainer, Interpersonal Relationship & Communications Expert, Marriage & Family Therapist

For over 20 years, I've been working as an Interpersonal Relationship & Communications Expert guiding entrepreneurs, C-suite executives, managers, and employees in improving their leadership skills, communication skills, "people" skills, customer service, sales, and more.

I'm able to fix your workplace "people" problems and upgrade your workforce and workplace - quickly.

I increase productivity, profitability, and peace by clearing dysfunction from the corporate culture.

Some examples of dysfunction are:  inefficiency, poor communication, no communication, micromanagement, no training or supervision at all, poor organizational skills, lacking management skills, bad customer service, poor or no sales skills, employee conflict, drama, gossip, and more.

I'm trained as a Marriage & Family Therapist, which gives me keen insight into why your employees act the way they act and how they affect one another.

Because of this background, I look at your workplace issues through a systemic lens when I work with groups, teams, and organizations (large and small), as well as individuals. This means I'm able to see how your company's policies, environment, employee-to-employee as well as management-to-employee interactions, and internal/external changes affect your employees individually and collectively, as well as your company as a whole. Then, I propose and implement solutions that are a win-win for everyone.

I'm able to see your employees' unique gifts and talents that others don't see (or appreciate). I'm then able to help your employees develop their unique gifts, and place them properly within your organization. Employees go from being checked out, poorly functioning, struggling, or just getting by to being stellar employees who are 100 times more motivated, productive, joyful, loyal and profitable!

Throughout our relationship of working together, I act as your trusted advisor supporting you and the growth of your company every step of the way.

I went to The University of Miami for my undergrad studies, where I had a double major in Speech/Interpersonal Communications and Psychology (graduated early with honors) and Nova Southeastern University for graduate school, where I attended classes in person, full time, for two years and received my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy.

I've been featured in over 100 media outlets worldwide! The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, CNN, MSNBC, Time Out NY, The Montel Show, Glamour Magazine, The Wendy Williams Show, Yoga Journal, The Guardian UK, and more.
